We are committed to engaging with you in ways that you tell us work well and at times that suit you best. When looking at creating new ways for involvement we will do this with you and make sure that they reflect the way you want to get involved.

We will make sure that you have a choice in how you would like to be involved, be it as an individual or as part of a group. We will have options for you to influence the wider community and we will look at ways to support you in this.

What We Offer:

  • A Tenants’ Forum that meets quarterly

  • A quarterly Community Newspaper– the Noize - that provides updates and information on involvement

  • Service Interest Groups that meet regularly

  • Focus Groups

  • A website that tells you what is going on

  • Training for residents who want to become Tenant Auditors or Chairs/members of groups

  • Monthly Estate Walkabouts (March through to November)

  • A Complaints Panel where we ask you to look at complaints with us

  • Surveys and questionnaires

  • Talk to Us sessions

  • Customer feedback, be it a compliment, comment or a complaint

  • Board of Management – you can seek to be nominated and elected to the Board

  • KABS holistic youth programme

What We Will Continue To Do:

  • Provide you with clear information about your opportunities to be involved

  • Ensure that these opportunities are accessible to everyone and reflect the different needs of residents

  • Provide incentives, practical support, and training to encourage you to get involved

  • Provide interpreters and other appropriate communication methods to enable you to get involved

  • Make sure our staff are trained and equipped to maximise resident involvement

  • Involve you in our continuous Service Improvement Reviews
     
  • Work with KABS to develop ways to involve young people

  • Involve you on environmental matters, such as Block Reps of flats and Estate Walkabouts

  • Encourage and promote Board membership

  • Monitor and tell you what achievements have been made as a result of your involvement

  • Actively involve you in monitoring our service standards and our performance

  • Ensure that our resident involvement activities and any community activities provide value for money

  • Promote resident involvement through our website, newsletters, the media and other publications

  • Actively promote resident involvement and its benefits to our new tenants

  • Hold community fun days where promotion of local services will be a key theme of the day

  • Support, engage and encourage involvement with the Editorial Panel for the Noize publications

  • Take the leading role in the Beechdale Regeneration Partnership

Our Priorities for 2009 – 2010: 

  • Review with you our 2009 Resident Involvement Framework

  • Review our Resident Involvement Policy with you and develop a Resident Involvement Strategy for the next 3 years that reflects government requirements, good practice and the needs of the community

  • Develop and promote our guide to Resident Involvement

  • Develop Estate Walkabouts through the formalisation and development of an Environmental Interest Group, Street Representatives

  • Develop and launch Residents’ Associations across Beechdale

  • Target our communication to encourage better representation across all our resident involvement activities to reflect the wider and diverse needs of the community

  • Involve you in the procurement of our new repairs and maintenance contract

  • Further develop links with local schools and Youth Services
